A Growing Dependence of People on Modern Technologies
Growing dependence on modern technology is deviating our focus from traditional skills. A name has been introduced as "nomophobia” which means fear of being away from your mobile phone.  With the advancement in technology, more and more devices with automation features are replacing the human work force. Moreover, the high dependence on technology is making humans to stop thinking and reading because all the information they need is all time available on the internet.

THE DANGERS OF MODERN TECHNOLOGY

Besides the benefits of technology, the disadvantages are huge and alarming. We need to reduce our dependence on modern technology to keep innovating. Below is the list of dangers of modern technology:

  • Impatience

The increased use of technology has made us impatient. The smart devices and social media 24/7 access is playing a major role in making us lose patience. Now, instant messaging and without delay replies have resulted in high expectations.

  • Memory

The growing use of modern technology including smart devices to capture photos, videos and making short notes, have impaired our memory. It has been hypothesized that our minds recognize that the information we expect is stored elsewhere in our smart devices that can be accessed easily in seconds, it is less important for us to memorize it- hence we do not use mental resources to store it.

  • Anxiety and Depression

The excessive use of mobile devices and modern technology has resulted in more anxiety and depression. People feel dumb after watching news or media over the internet for few hours. It has also led to mental health problems over the years. The backbone pain is one of the problems that people face due to continuous use of laptops and computers. The eyesight weakness and migraine are most common in people around us.

  • Addiction

Technological dependence and increased use of social media is addicting youth and children. The extreme use has manifested as an addiction to social media, gaming, and other technological engagements. Make sure that seeing notifications and replying to messages is an extreme version of addiction.

  • Skills

People are using apps and technologies to navigate or improve the skills. For example, use of GPS service to navigate a location in your city has reduced the use of maps and remember them. Smart devices do not let your skills to grow but hinders them.

In short, modern technologies are becoming so popular that we cannot live without them. A day without an internet seems like hell. Moreover, the members of family do not get any time to sit together and gossip around. We have experienced that young generation is addicted to the modern technologies and they do not bother to share things with the parents. They prefer to make friends on internet and share their personal lives. The privacy and more friendships are resulting in bad society and less developed children. The need of the time is to stop for a while and think where we are standing at the moment. Life is not all internet, it’s all about happiness and joy!
